The Wonderful Place Called Anniston

Anniston, Alabama is a place rich in culture and heritage. It is one of the major cities in the south, majestically located at the foothills of the Appalachian valley and is considered as the commercial and industrial center of Calhoun County.

Lined with trees and other wonders of nature, the place experiences four seasons in a year, which makes it possible for families and friends to enjoy various recreational activities throughout the year.

The place is famous for a lot of simple and nature-friendly places like the Chief Ladiga Trail that biking enthusiasts often travel. Golf is also a well sought-out sport in the area, with the city having numerous golf courses. There are also numerous themed parks fit for kids and the kids at heart.

Anniston is a proud sanctuary of the Anniston Museum of Natural History and the Berman Museum of World History, proving that this city values its culture, arts, and history, even when the place started painting its town a little later than most of the other nearby cities.

Anniston was only founded after the Civil War, so its history started a little bit later than other major southern cities. The Tyler and Noble families started the formation of Anniston in 1872, with the goal of making it a major industrial element in the New South. It bloomed from the Woodstock Iron Company and cotton mills.

With its humble beginnings as a private company town, it started opening up to a more public setup in 1883. Instantly, it started attracting other industrial companies and commerce in the place slowly increased.

Finally, people started building their homes in the area, and there are still a few of the historic, large Victorian homes built along Quintard Avenue – an avenue that started catering to only the rich and opulent people of the place.

The economy of the place became unstoppable until it finally reached a status at par with other southern cities that started off earlier than Anniston did.

Today, it is a metropolitan area and it was able to keep up with the changes in technology. Even residential areas have adapted to the once majorly industrial city.

A lot of people have migrated to the place and this can be proven by the many residential areas that have started to grow year after year. With such a history and a wonderful economy, it is no wonder why people choose to transfer to this place. It is a place perfect for families and people who want to put up businesses.

However, despite the many changes, it continues to preserve its rich history, making sure that each generation is able to understand and treasure the past of the city also known as “The Heart of Dixie.”
